There is a part of every project when the most useful thing I can do is resist the urge to make a decision. The song has arrived, but its shape has not. The room is quiet enough to notice what keeps returning.
Listening is not passive in this stretch. It means learning which rough edges carry the identity of the thing, which habits are only habits, and which questions are worth leaving open for another day.
The fastest route is rarely the straightest one. A good process makes room for discovery without turning uncertainty into drift. That balance changes from artist to artist, which is why the process has to be built around the work in front of us.
